Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm gets the green light.

RWE Npower Renewables has been granted permission to build Triton Knoll wind farm by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

At 12,000MW Triton Knoll will be the world’s largest wind farm, located approximately 20 miles off the coast of Lincolnshire and 28 miles from the coast of North Norfolk. Each year the wind farm could generate renewable energy to meet the average consumption of approximately 850,000 homes each year.

NIRAS were involved throughout the pre-application and post application process completing the ornithological impact assessment and the Habitats Regulations Assessment report. During the post application phase NIRAS were responsible for drafting Statements of Common Ground and drafting responses to PINS questions and representations from interested parties. NIRAS Consulting’s Managing Director provided oral evidence at the examination hearings and advice on the examination process and strategy.
